Co-Producing Pride in Nature
Environmental Psychology Research Group, University of Surrey (2024 - ongoing)
Engagement with nature supports health and wellbeing, but Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (LGBTQ+) people experience inequalities in access to and safe enjoyment of natural spaces. By facilitating knowledge exchange between the LGBTQ+ community and land managers, Co-Producing Pride in Nature (Nov 2024 – July 2025) aims to support inclusive nature engagement, enable development of an interdisciplinary research agenda relevant to non-academic priorities, and facilitate professional development of students and non-academic practitioners.

I am currently conducting empirical research on the influence of gender-related aspects on restorative and wellbeing experiences of nature. These include safety perceptions, gendered stereotypes, gender roles and further intersectional characteristics.

30km/h speed limits for Healthy Populations and Vital Cities
Erasmus Centre for Urban, Port, and Transport Economics, Rotterdam (2022-ongoing)
This project will provide evidence on the wider impact of 30 km/h limits in Rotterdam and the Netherlands. First, we will build a data infrastructure and evaluate the impact of previous changes in speed limits in Dutch cities. Second, in collaboration with Rotterdam municipality, we will assess how the introduction of 30km/h speed limits will influence the city’s vitality. We will use a holistic approach by combining outcomes on mobility, health, and environmental science and focusing on the differential impact on population subgroups.
